THE Murray Darling Basin Authority has received a hostile reception at community information sessions held in Victoria, NSW, and South Australia. At the Griffith meeting on Thursday, almost 5000 people attended with large crowds forced to stand outside. In response to the escalating tension, the government on Thursday announced that the new Parliamentary Committee for Regional Australia would conduct an inquiry into the impact on regional communities, led by independent Tony Windsor.
